Lorraine takes over on 3rd April from Nick Booth, who has been leading the Foundation since its inception.

The Foundation works with Their Royal Highnesses to identify key issues that need support, and then brings people and organisations together to achieve positive change. It does this through a combination of seed funding, awareness raising, convening and through programme development and delivery.

In the years since it was established in 2009, the Foundation has initiated major programmes in the areas of conservation, young people and veterans. The Invictus Games, United for Wildlife, the Endeavour Fund, and Coach Core are all examples of projects undertaken by the Foundation. The Foundation is currently coordinating the Heads Together campaign to change the conversation on mental health – the most ambitious initiative Their Royal Highnesses have undertaken together.

Speaking on behalf of Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke of Cambridge said:

Catherine, Harry and I are extremely grateful to Nick Booth for all of his hard work and leadership. He has used a unique model that makes the most of our ability to bring people together and helped us deliver projects we are proud of. We wish him the best of luck for the future. We are delighted to have someone of Lorraine's calibre taking over as CEO and very much look forward to working with her.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge

The Royal Foundation Chairman, Sir Keith Mills, said:

Nick and the team have done a great job initiating some amazing programmes, and this has given the Foundation and our Patrons the confidence to be even more ambitious in the future. I wish Nick every success in his next venture. His work at the Foundation has provided us a great basis to build on in the future. After an extensive search, we are delighted that Lorraine Heggessey will be joining us to build on the Foundation’s success in making smart, targeted investments of time and resources, and making a real difference to the lives of people in the UK and around the world. Our current Heads Together campaign is a great example of how we can bring people together to address an important problem and in doing so really make an impact. In the future, with Lorraine’s leadership, we hope to continue to accelerate and expand our programmes both in the UK and internationally.

Sir Keith Mills, GBE, DL - Chairman of The Royal Foundation

The Royal Foundation’s current CEO, Nick Booth, said:

To have been able to lead The Royal Foundation from the beginning and to have had the opportunity to build such an important organisation has been a great privilege and I am very proud of the impact that we have made in so many different areas. We have already had a profound impact on people's lives – be it providing young people with a brighter future, assisting wounded veterans with their recovery or supporting those on the front line in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade. We have assembled an extraordinary team at the Foundation and I have no doubt that under Lorraine’s leadership, it will continue to develop even more innovative programmes working on behalf of The Duke and Duchess and Prince Harry to effect positive change.
